On Tuesday, President Trump held a rally in Orlando, Florida, to not only update his supporters on his achievements during his first term in the White House, but to also officially announce he will seek re-election in 2020. According to Republican Chairwoman Ronna McDaniel, President Trump broke the record of raising $24.8 million in less than 24 hours after throwing in his hat on the presidential race. “[President Donald Trump] has raised a record breaking $24.8M in less than 24 hours for his re-election,” Said GOP Chairwoman McDaniel adding, “The enthusiasm across the country for this President is unmatched and unlike anything we’ve ever seen!”
President Trump’s $24 million exceeded the sum of his Democratic opponents combined. The top three Democrats campaigning to become the next Commander-In-Chief in 2020 were not even close to Trump’s funds.
- Biden= $6.3 Million
- O’Rourke= $6.1 Million
- Sanders= $5.9 Million
Total= $18.3 Million
Although the amount of money spent on a presidential campaign does not determine who will be elected as the next leader of the free world, it does indeed show a tremendous amount of support behind a candidate. Could it be that President Trump will be re-elected for a second term as president of the United States of America?
In 2016, Mrs. Clinton spent a total of $565 million for her presidential campaign while Mr. Trump only spent $322 million. This proves that whoever raises the most amount of funds will not always win the presidency.
